We have certainly created man in the best of stature. – Surah At-Tin (95:4)
The world is a projection of the extraordinary and the spiritual. Notably backing this posit in Islam is the belief that the natural world is a powerful testament to Allah’s existence, power, and wisdom. Yet, the born leader, Founder, and Chief Imam of The Al’haqdeen International Society has lived a consecrated life, propelling himself to realms attained by only the sacred. Sacrifices are the gateway fees to these portals, and this hallowed leader of the Muslim Ummah has paid his dues.
Born in a royal family, second to the Olubadan of Ibadan, Nigeria, Sheikh Ahmad Dhikrullah’s early life was not as rosy as many would have thought. It was instead characterized by struggles. In this phase of his travails, even as a young boy, he built resilience and an inexplicable relationship with Allah. Being committed at a tender age is a virtue found only scarcely in any era; however, Baba gave his all. This is believed to have enabled him to rise above all darted at him. Even for this struggle, he was unable to access Western education, which seemed to cost a fortune for his family at the time.
Sheikh Ahmad Dhikrullah’s life has been one of resolute love and dedication to God. His unwavering focus has served as motivation to all and sundry. While many might have thought his non-socialized nature to be prideful, it is far from true. It has been his means of staying connected to Allah. His longings have only ever been Allah, and nothing more, fostering his spiritual growth and height. Humility has been a value atop his totem pole, as he often counts himself not higher than other humans, acknowledging that he is also no saint.
To God and humanity has been his devoted service through The Al’haqdeen International Society, his mission at Orile Iyanu Olodo, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. The pristine society has its headquarters located in Ibadan, but there are branches in most southwestern towns and cities such as Lagos, Abeokuta, Osogbo, Ogbomosho, Saki, Ikirun, Apomu, Ikire, and even outside the continent in countries like the United Kingdom (UK), United States of America (USA), Saudi Arabia, and Dubai. He has dedicated a sexagenary minus five years to serving Allah through this mission. The screaming headlines on reputable news outlets about the commissioning of the gigantic Masjid of Fhodilah Khalifah Sheikh Ahmad Dhikrullah – The Al’haqdeen International Masjid – is another testament to the blessings of Allah, achieved even without external funding. The event of the Masjid’s commissioning was laced with the noble attendance of dignitaries such as the Oyo State Governor, the Aare Musulumi of Yoruba Land, Edo & Delta States, Dawud Makanjuola, the Asiwaju Adinni of Oyo State, Alhaji Mutiullah AbdulAzeez Onimaalu, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba AbdulRasheed Akanbi, and many others. What honor has Sheikh Dhikrullah not reached the pinnacle of, even while devoted solely to Allah?
His teachings are woven around spiritual and philosophical themes. Through his words, themes such as the transient nature of worldly life, the power and will of Allah in miracles, the principle of sowing and reaping, reverence, and obedience to God, among others, have remained dominant. What makes him distinct is his astute public speaking skills and philosophical allusions. His wealth of experiences and expertise come alive in teaching life lessons that are both existential and transcendent. His teachings are relatable, grounded, and unexaggerated, standing in contrast to many others.
Despite facing numerous personal challenges, Sheikh Dhikrullah ensured his children and followers achieved the milestones he could not, embodying the true essence of resilience and selflessness. As a caring and visionary father, he prioritized their education and success above all else, believing their progress to be the ultimate reward for his sacrifices. By turning his struggles into stepping stones for their advancement, he demonstrated unwavering strength and an unrelenting commitment to their future. Their remarkable achievements today stand as a testament to his steadfast determination, boundless love, and profound dedication to shaping a meaningful and enduring legacy that will inspire generations to come.
Baba’s philanthropic gestures have been more than inexplicable. Sheikh Dhikrullah stands as a beacon of selfless generosity, a soul devoted to easing the burdens of others. From his youth, he has walked the noble path of sacrifice, placing the needs of his community above his own. His first house, a grand story building in Basorun, was not kept for profit but donated as a refuge for others, freely offered for over three decades without a single coin exchanged. In his every deed shines a heart deeply attuned to humanity’s struggles, a life woven with the threads of service and love.
But his kindness flows far beyond shelter—it touches every corner of his community. Year after year, he mends weary roads, ensuring safe passage for all who tread them. His belief in the power of education has blossomed into scholarships, opening doors for countless dreams to take flight. Through his support, businesses have risen and lives have been transformed, as he empowers others to find their footing. Even in his own need, he has given freely—vehicles, resources, and hope—all with a grace that defies measure. Sheikh Dhikrullah’s life is a living poem, written in acts of devotion, a symphony of compassion that resonates in the hearts of all who encounter his light.
CELEBRATING A LIFE OF FULFILLMENT AT 70 is a rare privilege, one of the greatest blessings to experience. His remarkable journey, filled with dedication to serving God and humanity, stands as an inspiring message to Muslim faithful and all of humanity. A life so rich in purpose and unwavering commitment to faith and selflessness is a shining example of what it means to live meaningfully. Interacting with this revered cleric, whose wisdom, humility, and profound insights resonate deeply, has shaped my perspective on life once again. It reminds me of the importance of diligently paying our dues, striving for excellence, and trusting that rewards will come in due time. His legacy is a beacon of hope, encouraging us all to lead lives rooted in service, integrity, and the pursuit of the greater good.
