A Bauchi Senator, Shehu Umar Buba, has partnered with a non-governmental organisation, Reality Youths for Good Leadership and Support Initiative, to train 250 youths in shoe making and maintenance.
The training aims to equip the youths with skills to reduce unemployment and promote self-reliance in the state.
According to the Executive Director of the NGO, Mohammed Dahiru, all plans for the three-day empowerment program have been finalised, and the date for the commencement of the training will soon be announced after the selection of beneficiaries is concluded.
Senator Buba has given the NGO the green light to proceed with the training and has agreed to support it financially.
The training is designed to empower the beneficiaries with skills to fend for themselves and become employers of labor.
Each trainee will receive shoe maintenance kits to ease their trade.
The beneficiaries will be selected from Bauchi South Senatorial District, covering seven local government areas.
The NGO’s goal is to empower Nigerian youth, promote good governance, and encourage community engagement, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Executive Director has appealed to governments and well-meaning Nigerians to support empowerment initiatives for the less privileged through partnerships with development partners and NGOs.
This initiative is expected to make a significant impact in reducing unemployment and promoting self-reliance among youths in Bauchi.
