Senator Olamilekan Adeola has donated 102 electric transformers to 435 Community Development Associations (CDAs) in Ogun, in commemoration of his 56th birthday.
The gesture was part of his initiative tagged “Light Up Ogun State”, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Media Adviser to the Senator who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Kayode Odunaro, disclosed that no fewer than 17 council areas have benefited from the project.

The LGAs, according to the statement, include Yewa North, Ado Odo Ota, Yewa South, Abeokuta North, Ifo, Obafemi Owode, Ewekoro, and Sagamu. Others are Ijebu Ode, Odogbolu, Ipokia, Ijebu North East, Ikenne, Ijebu East, Remo North, Abeokuta South, and Ijebu North.
The power transformers were handed over to the representatives of the CDAs during a birthday ceremony organised by his friends, political associates, and supporters, held at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion, Ilaro, on Sunday.
Senator Adeola in the statement was quoted as having disclosed that he facilitated the energy infrastructure because his office was inundated with several requests for transformers following his periodic donation of transformers to communities over the years.
“It is a thing of joy for me to bring light to various homes and businesses through the provision of transformers and their energization.
“Related to the provision of transformers in the ‘Light Up Ogun” is the provision and installation of solar power street lights along streets, markets, communities, and palaces, with over 16,500 poles installed so far across Ogun West senatorial district and beyond.
“Let me state clearly that this facilitation is an ongoing process as there are still many more communities in darkness as a result of damage or inadequate energy infrastructure. I will continue to address these challenges that are already compiled in my office”, said Adeola in the statement.
Speaking with newsmen at the ceremony, the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Kunle Salako, said the lawmaker deserved more than what they have put together in his honour, because of his achievements in office and the senatorial district.
He explained further that they decided to pool resources together to give a befitting birthday to the senator to demonstrate their love, affection, and support for him.
The Chairman, Central Planning Committee of the event, and the Commissioner of Housing in the state, Jamiu Akande Omoniyi, appreciated the lawmaker for facilitating the transformers.
