THE Police Command in Plateau on Wednesday said it would arrest the sellers and users of fireworks as the ban on fireworks use in the state remained in force.
Police Public Relations Officers, PPRO, for the Command in the state, DSP Terna Tyopev gave the warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN in Jos.
Tyopev said the alarming rate at which explosives and fireworks were being sold and used in the state posed a serious security threat, hence the police would not spare anyone caught in the act.
“We have observed with total dismay the indiscriminate sale and use of fireworks within the Jos and Bukuru metropolis.

“The ban on the sale and use of fireworks in the state is on and so our personnel have been directed to arrest both the sellers and users of these fireworks without delay,” he said.
The PPRO advised parents and guardians to prevail on their children and wards to desist from the act.
Tyopev also urged members of the public to be law abiding and reports any suspicious activities around their vicinities to security agencies for prompt response.
