The imperativeness of using macroeconomic modelling for policy analysis and socioeconomic development in Nigeria has been promoted.
Professor of Statistics, University of Ibadan, Olubusoye O. E. identified this imperative in a statement ahead of the conference of the Nigerian Association of Macroeconomic Modellers to be held at the University of Ibadan on November 27 and 28.
The 3rd Annual International Hybrid Conference, themed ‘Macroeconomic Modelling and Data Science for Socio-Economic Development’ will attract leading academics, researchers, policymakers and industry professionals to discuss the latest advancements in macroeconomic modelling and data science.
Olubusoye, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, stressed that the event is organised to provide a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration among key stakeholders in the macroeconomic modelling community.
The conference, he added, will see scholars converge on the University of Ibadan to discuss topics that would push the socio-economic development of Nigeria.
Some of the topics for discussion include data quality and macroeconomic modelling; fiscal, monetary and financial policy strategies; energy transition, climate change and the environment.
Also to feature are, presentations on global macroeconomic shocks and the developing countries; commodity market and price shocks; macroeconomic modelling for economic policy coordination; artificial intelligence, machine learning and advanced analytics.
“We believe that the conference will contribute significantly to advancing macroeconomic modelling and data science for socio-economic development in Nigeria.
“We are dedicated to promoting the use of macroeconomic modelling for policy analysis and economic development in Nigeria. The conference will in the end develop evidence-based solutions for a more prosperous future.
“Meanwhile, there will be a pre-conference workshop on November 26 offering specialised training in macroeconomic modelling and forecasting and mastering decision trees,” Olubusoye said.
