Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has mourned the passing of a former member of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Akande, who died on Wednesday, describing the death as a shocking and devastating loss to him personally and the people of Ojo and Lagos State.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said this in a statement issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser (SA) on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, as he commiserated with the deceased’s family, friends, and political associates, especially in the Ojo Constituency I, where the late Akande represented for eight years in the Eighth and Ninth Assemblies.
The governor, while extending his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, political associates, professional colleagues, and the All Progressives Congress ( APC) members on the passing of Hon. Akande, further described the deceased former lawmaker as a committed and selfless politician, who spent his life to serve humanity, particularly the people of Ojo State Constituency I, whom he represented at the Lagos State House of Assembly for eight years.
“On behalf of my family, the state government, and the people of Lagos State, I mourn the passing of Hon. Victor Akande. The news of his death came as a shock to me. It was a great loss to his family, our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), the people of Ojo and Lagos State at large.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, political associates, professional colleagues, and members of our party, APC, on the passing of Hon. Victor Akande.
“We have lost a committed and selfless politician, who spent his life to serve humanity, particularly the people of Ojo State Constituency I, whom he represented at the Lagos State House of Assembly for eight years.
“He did his best for Lagos State as a lawmaker and Chairman of the House Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Petitions, and LASIEC during his sojourn in the Assembly,” the governor stated.
“I pray that God will grant the soul of our beloved Hon. Victor Akande eternal rest and comfort the immediate and political family of the deceased with the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss,” he prayed.
