Sanwo-Olu, Akran, Gani Adams, 50 traditional rulers, others for 2021 Olokun Festival
Lagos State governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Akran of Badagry, Oba De-Wheno Aholu; Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams; over 50 traditional rulers; Prof. Ayo Luqman Yusuff of the Institute of African and Diasporan Studies, University of Lagos (UNILAG) are among top dignitaries and prominent guests expected at the grand finale of this year’s edition of Olokun Festival.
The event, organized by the Olokun Festival Foundation (OFF) will climax with the grand finale that will come up in Badagry on Wednesday, October 27.
Chairman of the Planning Committee, Ambassador Muyiwa Osinaike, made this known, while speaking on the programmes lined up for the event, saying that the event was designed to showcase the true culture and tradition of Lagos State.
According to Osinaike, about ten programmes were designed for the annual fiesta, just as he assured that the committee headed by him had perfected its plan to explore the economic and tourism potentials of Lagos State, Badagry and its environs.
He said the annual fiesta would incorporate prayer session to Almighty God, quiz competition for secondary school students, as well the beauty pageant slated for Sunday October 24, adding that the grand finale is expected to be massive with the unveiling of Arugba Aje Olokun, a spiritual symbol of the Olokun Festival.
“We have concluded plans on the programmes and all our guests coming from far and near are also in high spirit. We have also placed much premium on the security of the guests and I think we are good to go,” he said.
Osinaike expressed appreciation to Adams for his commitment to promotintmg the culture and tradition of the Yoruba race.
