GOVERNOR Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state has again given the assurance that the venue for the Senior African Athletics Championship, Steven Keshi Stadium Asaba will be ready in the first week of July.
The assurance came on heels as seeming apprehension among sports enthusiasts over the readiness of the stadium became rife before the kick off of the game on August 15th, 2018
The governor who inspected the construction of facilities at the stadium on Wednesday expressed satisfaction with the huge progress made so far by the contractor especially in the last nine days when he visited last.
He charged the contractor to fast track efforts as he would visit the stadium again next week Friday saying ‘”we are looking forward to the stadium being ready in the first week of July.”
Okowa has inspected the stadium severally since April this year when the contracting firm promised to deliver the job at the end of June 13, 2018
Nigerian Tribune reports that work was in progress at the swimming pool, while foundation for the bases of the four flood light in progress with fittings at the gallery on top gear.
It was also gathered that in order to meet up with the new deadline the contractor now works day and night.

The governor who used the inspection visit to wish the Super Eagles victorious outing in Russia remarked that both the local organizing committee of the championships and the officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps were working hard to ensure a free flow of traffic along Nnebisi road in the state capital where the stadium is located.
Okowa had earlier commissioned two roads in Akwuebulu area of the state capital where he said that the perennial flooding in Asaba would be a thing of the past as from February 2019 when the gigantic storm drainage is completed.
He warned residents against indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the road even as he encouraged them to make use of service providers (PSP) in disposing of their bins.
