As part of activities marking the birthday celebration of District Governor 9126, Funkeakpo Ken Batife, the Rotary Club of Iyaganku on Friday donated food items, beverages, and other essentials to an orphanage home in Ibadan.
In addition to the donations, the club brought smiles to the faces of children at the Total Parental Guidance Orphanage by organizing a fun-filled party. Activities included a quiz competition, various games, and prize giveaways.
Speaking during the visit, the President of the Club, Dr. Olubunmi Oni, said the gesture was aimed at celebrating the District Governor and showing love and care to vulnerable children who are often overlooked in society.
The Rotarians encouraged the children to work hard, stay focused, and not be defined by their circumstances, but to aspire to greatness.
Rotarian Oni stated, “Our District Governor, Funke Ken Batife, is being celebrated by Rotary Clubs across the zone with outreach efforts to orphanages, just as we have done with the Total Parental Guidance Orphanage. We encourage others in society to support orphanage homes and donate voluntarily to help meet their needs.
“We want these children to know they are not forgotten. We want to inspire them to believe they can become anything they desire with hard work and dedication.

“They should focus not on where they are coming from, but on where they are going. Greatness is achievable, and that’s our message today.
“In celebrating the DG, we prepared cooked rice and drinks, and donated items including a bag of rice, noodles, biscuits, drinks, and a cake to mark the occasion.”
In her remarks, the matron of the orphanage, Mrs. Grace Akpan, expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club for the kind gesture, noting that it would remain in the hearts of the children for a long time. She also urged other well-meaning individuals and organizations to get involved in charitable activities.
“This kind of gesture is rare,” she said. “When I was informed about their visit, I didn’t expect this much. The gifts came at the right time and will be very useful to the children. You can see how happy they all are.”
