RMAFC chairman says Izzi/Ikwo crisis is satanic, barbaric

Following the renewal of communal crisis between Izzi and Ikwo clans in Ebonyi State, the chairman of Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Elias Mbam, has sued for peace, describing the crisis as satanic and barbaric.

Mbam made the call at the weekend while giving out his daughter’s hand in marriage traditionally at his country home Okpoduma Agbaja, Nwofe in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

According to him, the two clans who are brothers are not to kill each other. He then advised the warring communities to sheathe their swords and embrace peace.

He said no meaningful development would be achieved in an atmosphere of rancour and acrimony.

He also charged the leaders of the various communities to promote peace in their area irrespective of their political differences.

Mbam further frowned on the wanton killing of Ebonyians living in Ado Local Government Area of Benue State including a one-year-old child by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

He then called on government at all levels and security agencies to wade into the matter and apprehend the perpetrators of the dastardly act and punish them. He urged all to be alert and security conscious.
