AHEAD of the 2019 presidential election, members of the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) have promised to mobilise nothing less than 12.2 million people who have Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to unanimously cast their votes and give their unflinching support to President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that he emerges victorious in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
Bauchi State Chairman of the Association, Dr Yahaya Adamu Yusuf stated this on Monday while addressing newsmen at the NUJ Press Center in Bauchi saying that the Association has vowed that apart from mobilising 12.2 million votes for President Buhari whom they noted has done wonderfully well in improving the plights of farmers in the country, farmers in the state will woo other farmer Associations to mobilise more votes for the President.
He said: “Seeing the laudable achievements of this administration, particularly in the president’s effort in transforming the agriculture sector, we have no other option than to endorse the candidature of Mr President in the forthcoming general elections.”

Adamu Yusuf added that: “In Bauchi state, for instance, this administration has improved the income of farmers by introducing the Anchor Borrower Programme in which so far 10,000 farmers have benefited.”
“In 2017 dry season farming, the state had 634 farmers. In 2017/2018 farming season, the number rose to 2,350 farmers. Today, Bauchi state has a total number of 26,000 registered farmers who will participate in the 2019 dry season farming,” he further said.
The Chairman then urged Bauchi residents to come out en masse to vote for President Buhari in the general elections, saying that they should see him as an indigene of the state and an elder state man.
