The Federal Ministry of Works has announced the upcoming closure of the Independence Bridge in Lagos for rehabilitation over a period of 10 weeks.
According to the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Engr. (Mrs.) Olukorede Kesha, the closure will begin on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, and is expected to be completed by May 31, 2025.
The controller emphasized that this closure is essential to facilitate important maintenance and rehabilitation work on the bridge.
She said: “The closure will affect traffic travelling from the Ahmadu Bello Way and Adeola Odeku towards Marina, Eko Bridge and Onikan by zone 2.
“The Independence Bridge will remain closed until the end of May 2025 for the repairs.”
Keisha appealed to motorists to plan their journeys accordingly and seek alternative routes.
“The Federal Ministry of Work apologises for any inconvenience this closure may cause and appreciates the public’s understanding and cooperation as we strive to ensure the safety and stability of our road infrastructure,” she said.
