Release Nnamdi Kanu to end violence in Southeast, Nwosu urges Tinubu

APC Chieftain and former Chief of Staff to Ex-Imo State governor, Uche Nwosu has called on President Bola Tinubu, to consider the cries of the Southeast region and release detained leader of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

 

Nwosu while interacting with journalists virtually on the state of the nation, opined that releasing Kanu would attract President Tinubu to the people of the region, “and make them see him as a leader who is interested in the affairs of the region.”

 

The former governorship aspirant for the Imo State Government House explained that but for the insecurity troubling Imo, the state Governor, Hope Uzodinma, “has done incredibly well in the state.”

 

He however noted that the security situation in the Southeast state can be easily resolved with the release from detention of Kanu, whose captivity, according to him, “is making Youths there restive.”

 

Continuing, he stressed that the security challenges in the area will not affect the forthcoming governorship election, adding that “Security challenges can not affect the election, our Governor is doing his best to maintain peace in the state and to also have a peaceful election”.

 

He said the ruling All Progressives Party is fully prepared for the election and optimistic that the incumbent will return.

 

“We are fully prepared for the election and with what the present governor of the state has done in Imo state both in infrastructure and welfare of the masses, I strongly believe that he is going to retain the seat” he added.

 

“Our party is now united, we have settled our differences. My principal Rochas Okorocha is one of the party’s founding fathers, we are APC and can not build and leave, it is ours” he noted.

 

Nwosu further appealed to President Bola Tinubu to find a way to address the security challenges presently ravaging the region.

 

Also speaking on the election, he urged Imolites to come out in their numbers and vote for APC.

 

“Everyone should come out and vote. I have taken my position to vote for my party, we need to maintain peace, it is only when there is peace that we can have a state to call our own, Nwosu pointed out.
