Realtor commends Oyo gov’s initiative of building satellite towns in Ibadan

A realtor and Chief Executive Officer of Afia homes and properties, a subsidiary of Afia Construction and building engineering, Engineer Abdujelyl Adekunle Karheem (Mogaji Adanla), a leading indigenous estate developer in Ibadan, has commended the Governor Seyi Makinde for his announcement to establish satellite towns to ease congestion in the state capital, Ibadan.

While advising the government to ensure partnership with indigenous developers in the state towards achieving the laudable project, as their local knowledge will play a big role in ensuring the success and also engage the idle youths particularly in Ibadan where street fighting has become the order of the day, he stressed that it was imperative that every Oyo resident supports the governor to succeed.

The Oyo State Government had, on Monday, said it would create new satellite towns to decongest Ibadan metropolis.

“It is a welcome development and proves that this is a serious government. We all should support this project as it will create employment and decongest the city massively, thus opening it up to new investors who will further achieve a metropolitan agenda for Ibadan”, he said.

Mr Abdu-Raheem Abiodun, the state’s new Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, stated this in Ibadan shortly after assuming office in the ministry.

According to Abiodun, Ibadan has a population of over three million people, making it the third most populated city in Nigeria after Lagos and Kano states.

He said the state government would acquire lands in communities to enable willing residents to have access to their choice of land at affordable rates in any location in the state.

”This will help decongest Ibadan and allow for developmental projects that will help beautify the capital city and spread to the other major towns in the state”, he had said.
