Political office holders in Kebbi State led by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) rose from its deliberations, on Monday, and unanimously agreed to donate half of their June salaries to the state government as part of their contribution to tackling banditry in the state.
The SSG, Alhaji Umar Babale Yauri stressed that the political office holders gesture can not come at a better time than this when all hands are on deck to confront the menace of banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling and other act of criminality in the state.
According to him, the state government is working round the clock with several security agencies in the state to restore normalcy and bring life to normal across the state especially the agrarian communities where banditry attack has held the people to random.
“This gesture is our own widow’s mite in this direction as we are fully committed to doing everything humanly possible to ensure that banditry in its whatever form is overwhelmed and kept at bay,” He said.
Alhaji Babale Yauri, therefore, tasked all well-meaning, peaceful, patriotic and good citizens of the state to emulate this simple gesture as problems of insecurity should not be left with government and security operatives alone.
He expressed that the urgent restoration of peace in the state is the only panacea needed for socio-economic development the state needed for now.
