
THE newly posted Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone XI, comprising Osun, Oyo and Ondo states, Mr Danjuma Muhammed Ibrahim has commended Governor Rauf Aregbesola for his administration’s investment in security, saying the gesture had contributed immensely to the effective protection of lives and properties.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the media adviser to Aregbesola, Mr Sola Fasure, which was forwarded to the Nigerian Tribune in Osogbo on Thursday.
Danjuma, who was quoted to have given the commendation during a familiarisation visit to Aregbesola at the Government House in Osogbo expressed the readiness of his zonal command to provide effective security during the forthcoming September 22 governorship poll.
Accompanied by the Commissioners of Police in Osun, Oyo and Ondo states; Mr Olafimihan Adeoye, Mr Abiodun Odunde and Mr Gbenga Adeyanju among other top officers, the AIG maintained that Osun had raised the bar of security in all ramifications.
While noting that the level of security apparatuses put in place by the Aregbesola’s administration will help both the state and zonal commands to perform effectively, efficiently and professionally, Danjuma expressed the readiness of the police in the zonal command to provide adequate security before, during and after the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
According to him, “I am delighted to be posted here to serve, in view of the state’s huge investment in the security sector coupled with the relative peace the state and her people are enjoying. There is no doubting the fact that Osun remains one of the states in Nigeria that are very concerned and supportive to the welfare of the Police as being demonstrated in terms of prompt procurement of the security equipment and kind gestures”.
In his remark, ‎the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fimihan Adeoye, disclosed that Osun remains the state with largest sophisticated Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) in Nigeria, stressing that no state in Nigeria has 22 sophisticated Armoured Personnel Carriers, a feat, he said, had placed Osun to be a model and pace-setter of security development.

He stated, “the present administration in Osun has demonstrated a high sense of commitment towards the security development in the state as being manifested in the support we have received so far. Osun remains the only state in Nigeria with the largest sophisticated Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) among other security equipment like surveillance helicopter.
Responding, Aregbesola, commended the leadership of Nigeria Police for being supportive of his administration, noting that his administration had enjoyed best services from the men and officers of the Police serving in the state.
According to him, “the major factor of civilization is security, security has been the fundamental factor of determining human settlement and primary consideration of all human beings, thus no reasonable government will fail to support anything that can enhance security. It is in view of this sensitive thing that our government was determined, focused and engaged in unusual investment in security”.
