The Borno State Police Command has apprehended 40 suspects linked to looting, violence, and vandalism during the recent hunger and hardship protests in the state.
Police Public Relations Officer Kenneth Daso told the Nigerian Tribune in Maiduguri on Saturday that the suspects are being investigated and will be charged in court soon.
Daso said that the state capital is regaining normalcy after the government relaxed a curfew imposed following the violent protests. “There have been no reports of violence since the curfew was lifted,” he added. “With the curfew relaxed, Maiduguri is gradually returning to normal after the recent protests.”

The command said that underage children involved in the looting and violence will be taken to Tandari for rehabilitation.
