Fire gutted a tanker loaded with 46,000 litres of petrol, in the early hours of Saturday morning, at the Secretariat Bus Stop in the Alausa area of Lagos State.

However, tragedy was averted as quick response from Emergency agencies prevented the tanker from exploding.

A statement issued by LASEMA’s PRO, Nosa Okunboh stated that no lives lost nor injuries sustained.

He added that the fire was quelled with the efforts of all emergency responders that were present.

“In a just-concluded operation, LASEMA Response Team extinguished fire of a burning Oil Tanker loaded to capacity with 46, 000 litres of fuel intact, at the Secretariat Bus Stop, beside the pedestrian bridge.

“The incident which received the Agency’s usual prompt response at 1:17 am today, immediately it received the Distress call via its 767/112 Toll-Free Line, recorded no loss of lives, nor injuries, while the over two-hour operation lasted in the battle against the burning truck head in order to curtail the fire and stop a highly probable explosion,” It stated.
