The management team of the Oyo State Police Command on Tuesday paid a sensitisation visit to the Park Management System (PMS) office at Ajimobi Motor Park, New Garage, Ibadan, as part of efforts to enhance community safety and monitor criminals posing as transport workers.
The visit was led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Usen Ekanem, who represented the Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna. Other attendees included Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Intelligence Department, ACP Martins Bamigboye; the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Osifeso Adewale; and executive members of the Park Management System, led by its Chairman, Alhaji Tomiwa Omolewa.
DCP Ekanem highlighted the importance of proactive crime prevention strategies, stating, “Effective communication and strong cooperation with the Park Management System are essential for identifying non-members who may use motorcycles for criminal activities, including bank robberies and kidnappings.”
The police team stressed the need for collaboration to address rising public safety concerns, such as motorcycle overloading and the use of unregistered vehicles and tricycles. To support this, they recommended that PMS members wear identification jackets to help distinguish legitimate operators and boost public confidence in transport safety.
