A former Chairman of the Oyo State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Mukalila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, was on Monday, inaugurated as Chairman, Oyo State park managers disciplinary committee.
Just after his inauguration, Lamidi, accompanied by his supporters, embarked on a tour around major motor parks like Iwo Road, Toll Gate apparently to assert his authority.
Also inaugurated were park managers, assistant park managers, secretaries and treasurers for motor parks, quarries, tipper/lorries across the 33 local government areas in the state.
State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Professor Raphael Afonja who conducted the inauguration, at State Secretariat, Ibadan, charged Lamidi, his committee members and the park managers to take charge of motor parks with immediate effect.
He said the park managers and disciplinary committee had duties to ensure proper parking of vehicles, prevent gridlock and help generate revenue internally.
Afonja pointed out that the Lamidi led disciplinary committee will serve as the liaison between state, security agencies and the parks.
Noting that the disciplinary committee worked for the Oyo state government and not the NURTW, he enjoined them to shun any form of violence and operate within laws of the country.
Inaugurated alongside Lamidi as members of the disciplinary committee were Tajudeen Jimoh as Vice Chairman, Wasiu Omolewa as Secretary and Sunday Ayede as second Vice-Chairman.
To serve as managers for tippers/lorries disciplinary committee are Wasiu Adewale as Chairman, Akintola Akeem as Secretary and Olowotutu Wasiu as Treasurer.
Speaking with journalists after his inauguration, Lamidi assured of the commitment of the park managers to improving the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) as well as attending to the yearnings of residents of the state for better traffic management.

This is as he assured of a peaceful run such that the park management system will become an example for other states to follow.
“I thank God and thank Governor Seyi Makinde. We pray God continues to lead the governor on the right path. The duty of park manager we have been given has nothing to do with unions. The governor said he does not want that in this state.
“By God’s grace, I assure that with this park management system, we will set a good example and peace will reign in the state. We will also listen to the demands of residents of the state for better traffic management. We are also ready to help the state government generate revenue internally,” Lamidi said.
