The Association of Motor Dealers of Nigeria (AMDON), Oyo State Chapter, has elected new executive members to run its affairs for the next four years.
The election, which was the first conducted by the Oyo State chapter, took place peacefully on Saturday at the NUJ Press Center, Iyaganku, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The election was well observed by some leaders and members of the association.
After the election, Kolawole Olurinde emerged as the new chairman of the association, Adeniran Abdulrasheed as the vice chairman, Oduola Kolawole as the secretary, Falola Ayoola as the public relations officer, and Olagoke Akinsoji as the task force commandant of the union, while some other executives emerged unopposed.
The union’s electoral officer, Ojebunmi Dele Ajibona, presented the new executive members with their certificates of return.
In their separate remarks, the national executive members of the association present at the election, Assistant National Secretary Adeyemi Adeyinka and National Auditor Alhaji Rasheed Iyiola, both stated that the election was free and fair.
They urged the newly elected executives to govern the association in unity to bring more development to the community in terms of automobiles.
In his brief remarks, the outgoing caretaker chairman of the association, Alhaji Ahmed Alobalowo, commended the National President of AMDON, Engr. Ajibola Adedoyin, for his support, as well as all South-West and national executives of the association for their peaceful conduct during the election.
According to him, the election was the first democratic mode of selecting new executives in the history of the Oyo State chapter, adding that the association had never had democratically elected executives in the past.
“I appreciate the members of the association and the national executive members here for the peaceful conduct of the election. This has never happened in the history of the association here in Oyo State, as chairmen only emerged through consensus,” he said.
Responding, the newly elected chairman, Kolawole Olurinde, also known as A Plus Motors, pledged to prioritisd the welfare of the association’s members.
He promised that the new executives would carry members along to ensure the association’s success.
He also urged aggrieved members of the association to unite for the progress of AMDON.
