The chairman, South East Governors Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi has maintained that Nigeria can only move forward if the leaders inculcate the attitude of hard work, contentment, and good character.
Umahi stated this at the Executive Council chambers government House, Abakaliki during a valedictory session with his cabinet members on Tuesday.
Governor Umahi also during the session, expressed joy, satisfaction as peace finally returned wholly between him and his predecessor, Chief Martin Elechi whom he described as his destiny helper noting that God used the former Governor Martin Elechi to place him in the successor position he found himself currently.
In his words, “I want to thank Chief Elechi, I will never forget him, he is the destiny helper that God used to put me where I am. Without him, I wouldn’t have been where I am today. So for your information, we are talking now and we are happy for ourselves.” He said.
Umahi also noted that he has not dissolved his executive members, however, charged his cabinet members to be rest assured that his next administration can only depend in the hands of God as he will work peacefully with the chosen ones.
He then commended his council members for their different sacrifices, tolerance, and spirit of forgiveness found among them in the course of pursuing the future of their children.
“I want you to know that the making of the next administration is not in my hand, it is in the hand of God but whosoever God appoints, we must definitely continue to stair the ship until 2023.”
He also said: “I have no enemy, I have no friend. My friendship is the work because I love hard work even if you are my enemy, we can work together if you are hardworking.”
” So, I want to commend you all very highly, you have sacrificed so much, you have worked very severely and hard, just to change our narrative.” He maintained.
Meanwhile, the chairman, South East Governors Forum, who stated that there is need to work collectively in this nation to secure the futures of tomorrow, advocate that Every Nigeria leader join hands in training the children of others to reduce war, kidnapping and other social vices found in the country.
“Every leader must pursue, and know that every child is your child and that is why in Ebonyi State, no matter the tribe you come from, you become our own. A criminal that nurture a criminal and go to Lagos will not know which tribe the person is, and once he is a criminal, he will tarnish the tribe.”
“I am looking forward to building families, economy, youths that will be taxable, no matter what happens in the country, Ebonyi State will continue to afloat and will continue to be a pacesetter in the sense that we set the pace in everything because we have the grace of God in abundance.” He boasts.
However, the session was ended with prayers and Thanksgiving.
