Two royal houses in Moro town, Ife North local government area of Osun State, Ariori and Ojidiri Lambua, on Tuesday appealed to Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, to use his good officers to ensure all eligible royal families are included in the race to produce the next Olumoro in the town.
The royal ruling houses, Ariori and Ojigidiri Lambua, who made the appeal at a press conference held at the OSUN state NUJ press centre in Osogbo, sought due process that would involve every ruling house to fill the vacant seat of the late monarch of the community.
Addressing the press conference on behalf of the families, Prince Oyebade Adeyemo thereafter charged Oba Ogunwusi to institute a board of inquiry into the claims by Ariori and Ojigidiri, who, according to him, have been sidelined despite being backed by history to stake a claim to the throne.
“We hereby appeal to our exalted Royal Father, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Babatunde Eniitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Oonirisa of the Source, and Arole Oodua to please wade into this matter. We are most respectfully requesting that:
“A Board of Inquiry (BOI) be instituted by Ooni Palace to look into the Moro case with a view to selecting a widely acceptable candidate for Olumoro’s stool.
“Ooni Palace should invite the five (5) alleged Royal Houses in Moro to Ooni Palace, where each house would be subjected to defend his ancestral claim to the throne of Olumoro of Moro.
“After ratification of findings by the Ooni Palace and official pronouncement by the Ooni and Arole Oodua on the matter, Moro could graciously proceed to select a candidate to Olumoro Stool in peace, harmony and oneness for the betterment of Moro people and Ife Kingdom,” Adeyemo said
He also charged Osun State Government to compel the Ife North Traditional Council to release the recent “declaration/Gazette prepared by the State Government, which is in the custody of the Ife North Council of Obas to Olumoro Chiefs-in-Council and to do the needful by correcting all the anomaly that have to do with the throne’s ascendancy.”
