The leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Osun State chapter has assured the state governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke of their full support, to make the state more virile.
The union which stated that the entire NURTW members have been of good conduct despite its proscription by the government, said the development has adversely affected the fortunes of the union members in the state due to what it said was the blockage of their legitimate means of livelihood.
The Chairman, Alhaji Raufu Fakorede who made these known in a statement on Tuesday in Osogbo, however, charged government to lift ban on the proscription of the union.
According to him, “The NURTW members in the state declared our unalloyed support for governor Ademola Adeleke led government and, we shall continue to be law abiding and always follow the Constitution of the union.
“While, we also appreciate the efforts of the National Headquarters of the union in ensuring that normalcy return permanently, we assure that the union would continue to maintain peace and tranquility in the state.”
The leadership of the NURTW however dissociated itself from the meeting presided over by Alhaji Chief Kazeem Oyewale, a.k.a Asiri Eniba last week Thursday at the South-West Zonal Headquarters of the union saying, it was an unholy one.
“As we declared the meeting unconstitutional, baseless, null and void, Mr Governor should not allow some people pretending to be loyal and faithful but receiving directives from the opposition to destabilise activities of the transportation union which may also affect the current administration in Osun,” he submitted.
