THE Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, will lead other eminent Nigerians, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun; retired World Court judge, Prince Bola Ajibola, SAN, CFR; traditional rulers, among others, to celebrate with senior citizens in the country during this year’s International Senior Citizens Day.
The event, which comes up on Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Olowu of Owu Palace, Owu, Abeokuta, Ogun State by 10am, will be chaired by Prof Osinbajo and hosted by Prince Ajibola, with both Chief Obasanjo and Oba Jacob Omolade, the Olubara of Ibara slated to be honoured with the Senior Citizenship Certificate.
Executive Director, Senior Citizens Care Foundation (SCCF), Mr Jide Taiwo, made this disclosure in a statement made available to newsmen in Lagos, saying the Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Adewole, will be the Special Guests of Honour, while Dr Mike Omotosho, the Governor Emeritus of Rotary International will deliver a keynote speech on the topic: “Improving the care of the Elderly in Nigeria.”
Besides, he said the Foundation medical team would conduct free screening on diabetes, high blood pressure, and eye, adding that free glasses and drugs would be made available for the elderly that day.
