Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has assured the electorate in Ogun State of adequate security during the Saturday governorship and National Assembly election.
He made the disclosure while addressing supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the campaign rally of the party in Abeokuta South Local Government Area, on Wednesday.
The VP said there would be no room for violence during the polls which he described as a special one towards the progress and development of the state.
He said those threatening violence during the polls would have the security forces to contend with, noting the FG would provide adequate security cover for the voters.
“This Saturday election is a special day because the election is an election for progress and development. You should all come out in your numbers to vote for APC. Dapo Abiodun is our candidate.

“We must all come out to participate in this all-important election. We have gathered that some people are threatening violence, I want to assure you that the federal government is taking over the security of the state. Everyone will be adequately protected. There will be no room for violence.
“We are working seriously on the issue of security. APC is a party at the centre. It is the party that brought us to power at the state and there is no alternative to it,” Osinbajo added.
Abiodun in his remarks said his campaign train was in Abeokuta to seek for the support of the electorate in the Saturday election.
The APC governorship candidate said the party’s door is opened to politicians who believed in the policies and programmes of the party, as he welcomed a two-term member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kayode Amusan, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to APC.
A leader of the party in the state and former governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba, appreciated the people for re-electing President Muhammadu Buhari and Professor Yemi Osinbajo in the February 23rd election.
Earlier, the VP had gone round major markets within Abeokuta campaigning for the party and all candidates fielded for the Saturday election urged the people to discountenance threats from any quarter.
“We will do all humanly possible within the ambit of the law to provide adequate security for all and sundry on and after the coming Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in the state.
“So, don’t panic as we are up to the task ahead.
“The coming Governorship election in Ogun state is very crucial and we should all come out and vote.
“And you are to cast your votes for Prince Dapo Abiodun as the Ogun state governor. Also, vote for all House of Assembly candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election.
“By and large, ensure your votes are counted in your presence before you leave the polling booths.
“Don’t let us turn our back at the APC because it is the only party that can take us to the next level. And we should not cast our votes for any other party than the APC,” he assured.
