This was disclosed made known while receiving the founder of the, Crew Wole Elusiyan, popularly known by his stage name, Wole Sax.
Wole Sax is a dynamic saxophonist/entertainer, a music producer and humanitarian who doubles as the official saxophonist of the Ooni as well as founder of the Getup Crew International.
Getup Crew, a musical band committed to music production, entertainment and humanitarianism, also seeks to preserve African gospel music through jazz.
The brand officially took off in 2013 with performances at events like concerts, weddings, birthdays, burial ceremonies, and participates in yearly activities including Christmas Jazz Fiesta and Love in The Air Concert.
While addressing dignitaries at the palace, Wole Sax spoke on Getup Crew’s humanitarian engagements: “The vision of this aspect of our brand is to see that orphans’ dreams do not die with them because of lack of a good support system. The Getup crew, therefore, organises a yearly concert called the Getup Charity concert with an average attendance of 5,000 people where funds are raised to meet their needs.
“And this is the fifth edition of Getup Charity Concert, so we will be celebrating five years of professionalism through our services to humanity and God almighty.”
The Crew also partners with orphanage homes and non-governmental organizations to organise events for orphans. Examples of such events include the GIVEBACK Concert by House of Oduduwa Foundation under the auspices of Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife; Orphans Got Talent by Ashley Adegoke Foundation, among others.
Some of the artistes to grace the November 18 event are Wole Oni, Big Bolaji, Mc Reo, Lizzy Jay (Omo Ibadan), Dele Sax, Temmy Sax, Oju Jazz, Nelson Kenneth, Toyosi Akinya, Yinka Salau, Muyiwa Adigun and many more.
