Former Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-West, Ayo Fadaka, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of planning violence and vote-buying ahead of Saturday’s Ondo governorship election.
Fadaka stated this on Friday in a statement made available to newsmen, decrying how the “ruling party have brought in hoodlums to terrorise and scare the electorate in the state.”
He mentioned the violent attacks on PDP members in Idanre and other parts of the state, stating that the APC has hatched plans to terrorise residents so that they will not be able to vote freely and fairly on Saturday.
The PDP chieftain added that the APC has also been hell-bent on continuing its undemocratic legacy of buying votes and bribing its way to victory.
He laude a Civil Society Organisation, the Joint Action Council on Democratic Governance (JACODEG) for speaking out on the APC’s ‘Dibo ko sebe evil plan,’ calling on all observer groups to “soro soke” against the evil plans of the ruling APC.
Fadaka declared that the APC has been acting true to type as a party of evil doers by hatching plans, bringing in thugs and trying to pin their evil plans on the PDP.
He said: “Ahead of the Governorship Election on Saturday, the APC in Ondo State supported by the Federal Government and the evil men and women in the APC has been attacking PDP supporters violently.
“They have brought in an army of invasion, thugs and brigands who have been terrorising the innocent people of the state so that they will not be able to exercise their rights tomorrow.
“The APC have been attacking our people because they are afraid of their shadows. But the people have been resolute and they will not bow to oppressors.
“They have also been going about in their scheme to buy votes and corrupt the electoral processes.
“As a party, we have abided by the rules thus far. But the lawless APC have been gaming the system because they are in power.
“This evil will not endure. We are sure that light will triumph over darkness tomorrow when our people make their bold choice to support Alfred Agboola Ajayi.
“But we also want to sound a note of warning; PDP is a peace-loving party but there is a limit to which a people can condone oppression.
“We are, therefore, calling on INEC, the Nigeria Police, the Army and the international community to monitor Ondo State closely and ensure that the APC plays by the rule.”
