According to him, the planned protest was planned to turn the unsuspecting members of the public and some party members against the decision of the party as the flagbearer for the district senatorial race.
He termed the alleged proposed action of Felder as anti-party saying it was targeted to ridicule the National Working Committee and the party leadership on its choice of candidate for the election.
“While I agree that it is the right of the people to carry out peaceful protests, this which is coming in the heels of the NWC decision that I will be allowed to fly the flag of the APC appears preposterous. Not only does it amount to an anti party, it is a clear indication that those whose personal interests have been placed far above the party interest have deployed untoward means to hijack the party.
“As far as I am concerned, the planned sponsored protest coming amid my concerted effort to reconcile all cleavages within the party in the district is highly regrettable and unconscionably misdirected and mischievous in all ramifications.
Omogunwa however called on member of the public not to partake in the alleged planned protest and disregard the call for the protest, saying, I want to use this medium to call on the general public, especially the people of the six local government areas to disregard the move aimed at taking the hand of the clock backwards.
“I respect all party leaders, including Dr Felder and therefore, it is my wish to him that he reverses himself from the move which he has unpredictably funded.”
However, one of the aides to Dr. Felder denied the allegation, saying his principal is a loyal party member and will not go against the decision of the National leadership of the party.
“He is a loyal party member and will not do anything that will tarnish the image of the party or it’s leaders,” he said.
