Ahead of the governorship election in Ondo state, a support group with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo, the APC Authentic Grassroots Mobilisers (AAGM), has thrown its weight behind one of the party gubernatorial aspirants for the governorship race, Dr Paul Akintelure.
The convener of the group, Hon. Babajide Akinwalere-Thomas, while speaking during the meeting of the group in Ondo, headquarters of the Ondo West local government area of the state, said the gathering is aimed at mobilising voters in support of Akintelure ahead of the APC primary slated for April.
Akinwalere-Thomas revealed that the group’s mission to rally behind Akintelure and ensure his resounding victory in the party’s primary became necessary after considering his past records that placed him above all other aspirants.

He said the group decided to stand united in their collective dedication, propel the APC candidate, and join hands with him to shape the future political landscape of the state.
According to him, the group aims to utilise its extensive network and strategic resources to reach every corner of Ondo State, engaging, educating, and mobilising voters.
He said that through a multifaceted approach that includes grassroots initiatives, public awareness campaigns, and community outreach programmes, every eligible delegate would be reached to cast their votes for Akintelure.
He expressed unwavering confidence in Akintelure’s visionary leadership, integrity, and commitment to the development of Ondo State, saying the group stands firmly behind him in their quest for a brighter future for Ondo State.
He said, “Our gathering is to show our support to Dr Paul Akintelure; he’s one of the loyalists of President Tinubu. In 2012, when Aketi was contesting for Ondo State governor through the sponsorship of Tinubu.
Akintelure was made the campaign coordinator for Aketi then,, but in 2016,, when Aketi was recontesting without the support of Tinubu, Akintelure also rejected the offer of working for Aketi just to show his loyalty to his principal.
“With the total loyalty he has displayed in the past, it’s obvious he’s going to get the support of the president to get the party’s ticket. Akintelure has the brain to rule Ondo State and turn the fortunes of the state around.
While. Speaking, the coordinator, Dr Paul Akinyelure, in Ondo West, Hon. Lanre Akinkuotu, said the group is coming together to solicit the support of party members ahead of the primary.
He called on members of the party to visit their various wards to register as bona fide members of the APC so that they would have the opportunity to partake in the coming primary.
“We have been struggling for a very long time. From AD to ACN and now in APC. We believe in the ideology of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu that he can not fail or make mistakes as an experienced politician.
“We are gathering to show our unwavering support for the candidature of Dr Paul Akintelure to become the next Ondo State governor.
“We are soliciting the support of other members of our party for the DPA to get the ticket of the party during the coming primary because the the mode of primary to choose the party candidate is direct primary, where all card-carried members would be able to participate.
“I advise our people to make their stand and not entertain any fear concerning what they might be hearing on the issue of endorsing somebody.”
