The family of Omolara Adeosun is in distress. Ever since she became a victim of abuse of power and wrongful torture by some soldiers operating under the aegis of Operation Burst in Oyo State last year, life has been a tale of agony and distress.
Omolara, a resident of Erunmu, Ibadan, has been transferred from one hospital to another due to the injuries she received from her torture.
According to her husband, Olalekan Adeosun, his spouse, who is a petty trader, was tortured after she was wrongfully detained on the allegation of selling stolen sachet alcoholic drinks at the Lalupon station of Operation Burst for three days, from March 30 till April 1, 2022.
The case of wrongful detention was reported to the military hierarchy in charge of the soldiers at that station and Mrs Adeosun was cleared of the allegation. She is, however, still in need of medical attention.
She requires surgery to the tune of N518,170 according to a medical report from the University College Hospital (UCH).
“We ended up with this figure as of September 9, 2022,” Mr Adeosun told Nigerian Tribune.
“We have spent thousands of naira already on initial treatment, tests and drugs. This is surgery is what we finally need for my wife to be able to get back on her feet and return to her business. We are appealing to kind-hearted Nigerians to please assist us.”
