In the ever-evolving music industry, Oloye Peter Oluwamayowa, better known as Oloye Coldman, stands out as a multifaceted talent who embodies the spirit of Afrobeats & Hip-Hop. Born on March 5, 1989, in Ondo City, Ondo State, Nigeria, Oloye Coldman’s roots trace back to the Owo Kingdom. His academic journey began at Bishop Hughes Memorial Catholic Nursery/Primary School in Akure before attending Hallmark Secondary School, Ondo, where he graduated in 2006. He later pursued a degree (Computer Science) at Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Osun State, graduating in 2013.
Oloye Coldman’s interests span from listening to music, reading, playing video games, football, and occasionally writing. His diverse professional career includes being an entrepreneur, A&R executive, record producer, songwriter, consultant, video director, and actor. His journey into music began during his secondary school days in 2002/2003 when he formed a music group. In 2007, he made his first official appearance in a studio.
By 2009/2010, he had gained recognition as the “Dopest M.C.” in the “Rap Attack” Vol.1 session at Joseph Ayo Babalola University.
In 2012, Oloye released his debut mixtape “Pot of Coldz”. His first EP, “Pot of Coldz”, was released in 2014, that same year, he won the “Producer of the Year” award at the Annual University Crest Awards (ANUCA), followed by a deluxe version in 2018 and it featured standout tracks like “No One” (featuring Skales), “Beauty In The Struggle” and “Behind Closed Doors.”
Oloye’s talents were further recognized in 2016 when he won “Artiste of the Year” at the Ondo State Music Awards (OSMA). He continued to make waves by performing at prominent events like “Miss LASU” in 2015 and 2016, “Most Beautiful Girl in Lagos” in 2016, “Miss Environment International” Ajah, Lekki, Lagos in 2016, JABU Awards 2016, Miss Achievers 2017, His music reached new heights in 2015 when his song “Too Fine” hit number one on Rhythm FM’s “Beg Me To Play” by Omalicha.
His EP “034”, released in 2020, brought together various music stars from Ondo State and showcased his dedication to local talent. In 2022, he dropped the “Olúwamáyòwá” EP, a deeply personal project that reflected his experience of breaking his wrist while playing football and the emotional trauma that followed.
Oloye’s accolades include becoming the first Hip-Hop/Afrobeats artist from Ondo State to win an international award, the prestigious IFC Award, in January 2023.
He has also appeared on international blogs in the UK and US and platforms in Ghana and Nigerian stations like Rhythm 93.7 FM, BCP Radio, G Radio USA, Phoenix Radio UK, Burton Radio UK, Empire Radio, CHANNELS TV, OSRC TV, Adaba FM, etc.
