The Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wings Worldwide has completely disassociated itself from Igboayaka O. Igboayaka and Ifeanyi Nweke, who claim to be the national president and secretary general of Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Council.
The group also distances itself from what they describe as unfounded publications by Igboayaka in the last month.
In a world press conference organized in Owerri on Monday, the General Secretary of Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wings Worldwide, Chukwumaeze Okpalaezeukwu, accused Igboayaka’s group of criminal impersonation of Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing Worldwide.
He stated that they have successfully filed a case of impersonation against Igboayaka O. Igboayaka and Ifeanyi Nweke, who have falsely presented themselves as the national president and secretary general of Ohaneze Youth Council, respectively.
He said, “We want to state categorically that there is nothing like Ohanaeze Youth Council; rather, we are the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing Worldwide.”
The group urged the Nigerian Police and other security operatives in the state to be mindful of impostors who have been involved in criminal impersonation of Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wings Worldwide.
According to him, the present leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing Worldwide was duly elected on August 5, 2021, under the supervision of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, under the leadership of the late President General, Prof George Obiozor, and Amb. Okey Emuchay as Secretary General.
They emphasized that Mr Igboayaka and his publications do not represent the position of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing.
He said, “Be that as it may, as a responsible and law-abiding organization, we took this course to preserve our sanctity and integrity, which the duo had attempted to compromise.”
The group insisted that Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing will never condone the extrajudicial execution of unarmed Igbo youths anywhere, nor align themselves with any individual or group that attempts to malign or disparage Governor HOPE Uzodinma or any other leader based on mere speculations or hearsay without due diligence.
They stated that they will not support any criminal activities driven by economic gain or political desperation, and they will never allow Igboland to be turned into a theatre of war by irresponsible actors who exploit our youths to gain power.
While acknowledging the unfortunate security impasse in the South East, especially the Oguta carnage, the group strongly condemned the remote and immediate causes of these security challenges in local communities.
They assured that the youth body has urgently embarked on a fact-finding mission to set the records straight and find means to ensure lasting peace, stability, and security of lives and property in Ala Igbo and Nigeria at large.
He said, “In the interest of truth and justice, we reaffirm our solidarity and support to the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, government at all levels, and all security agencies for absolute peace, stability, and security in Nigeria, especially in Ala Igbo.”
