OGUN State government has placed embargo on further appointment and installation of Baales in communities and villages across the state.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko, disclosed this in a letter addressed to the Ogun State Traditional Councils.
Chief Ojuko, in a release by the press officer of the ministry, Oluwaseun Boye, stated that the restriction became necessary following the steps taken by some traditional rulers in the state which led to installation of two baales within the same location and resulted in insecurity of life and property.
He further disclosed that the Ogbonis and Osugbos were barred from interfering in the selection process of Baales in the state, adding that it contravened the Chiefs Law of the state except officially requested to do so by their prescribed authorities.
The commissioner, however, enjoined the four traditional councils in the state to comply with the directive as the ministry would not entertain any request until further notice.
