THE Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Council in Ogun, Oladele Adeniji, on Tuesday appealed to residents of Sango-Ota and its environs to pay their rates and taxes as at when due to enable government deliver the dividends of democracy.
Adeniji, who made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota, said payment of taxes would enable government to provide adequate amenities to the people.
According to him, it is the responsibility of every administration to improve its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) so as to improve the welfare of the citizens.
“We are making concerted efforts to improve our IGR because without that, the state will not be able to provide basic infrastructure to the people,” the council boss said.
Adeniji, however, urged the people to always be ready to contribute their quota to development of the state.
He also said that a cemetery had been approved in the council area as part of measures to boost its IGR.
Adeniji said the council would soon embarked on sporting activities in order to keep the youths busy so that crime rate could be reduced in the state.
