Odunlade, Mr. Latin, Mercy Johnson ready for Glo Laffta Fest at Ajah

TWO of the best known actors in the Yoruba genre of Nollywood, Odunlade Adekola and Bolaji Amusan, otherwise called Mr. Latin, will join  actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, and Nigeria’s leading comedians to entertain Glo subscribers and other guests at this weekend’s edition of Globacom’s comedy show, Glo Laffta Fest.

Other Nollywood greats who will attend the show are Richard Mofe-Damijo and Kanayo O. Kanayo as well as Juliet Ibrahim who will pair Mercy Johnson-Okojie as the show anchors.

The 27-week show, which parades Africa’s funniest humour merchants, returns to Lagos this Sunday with a rib-cracking show scheduled for  the  KFA Marquee event centre, by Jakande Estate’s First Gate at Ajah.

The Ajah concert will kick off at 4 p.m. and will feature Uganda’s Salvador as well as Nigeria’s Bovi Ugboma, Godwin Komone, better known as Gordons, Seyi Law, De Don and MC Tagwaye.

In a statement to announce the event, Globacom said, “We treated the people of Ajah area of Lagos to an unforgettable evening of music entertainment when we took the Glo Mega Music Nationwide Tour to the same venue. This time, it is comedy like they have never seen before. Our prospective and existing subscribers should keep a date for a time to remember.”

The comedians who will perform at the show promised an outstanding evening of entertainment for guests at the event. Bovi said: “I am going to be on Glo Laffta Fest stage in Ajah live on Sunday, together with some of the continent’s best comedians. Make it a date with us. Trust me; you don’t want to miss this!”

On his part, Gordons, who is generally known as ‘Bishop of Osusu Ministry Worldwide’, said, “I am turbo charged to release fun as never before on Sunday. I call on fun lovers to find their way to that venue for an evening to remember.”

Glo Laffta Fest has been generating huge interest and followership since it kicked off in Port Harcourt on April 16. Some of the cities that have hosted the show are Abuja, Enugu, Owerri, Warri, Yenegoa, Calabar, Uyo, Ibadan, Benin, Ijebu Ode, Kaduna, Abeokuta, Kubwa, Ikorodu, Suleja Kano, Anyigba, Lokoja, Onitsha and Makurdi.

To attend the Ajah show, Glo subscribers who have used up to N2,000 credit in the last one month are required to text ‘LOL’ with the location name to the short code 240; for example, “LOL Ajah” to 240. Subscribers who do not meet this criterion but who wish to attend the show are requested to go to the event venue with N2000 to purchase airtime for their own use. They will then be entitled to a ticket.
