The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has mourned the death of a Corps member, Joel Grace Chalya KD/23A/4386, killed on Wednesday in Abuja.
Late Chalya who until her death resided at Barnawa GRA area of the state after her morning devotion with other Corps members, jogging when she was attacked by hoodlums who stabbed her and made away with her phone.
This is contained in a statement issued by the NYSC’s Spokesperson, Mr. Eddy Megwa on Thursday in Abuja.
“Her colleagues were alerted by a good samaritan and the NYSC management rushed the deceased to Harmony Hospital Limited in Barnawa, Kaduna for prompt medical attention, but unfortunately, she passed on.
“The NYSC management expresses its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, the deceased’s colleagues, and her employer among others.
“Moreso, the scheme is in strong collaboration with various security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators of this dastardly act and ensure that justice is served.
“Members of the public are enjoined to cooperate with the security agencies in ensuring that all Corps members who are deployed to contribute their quota to national development by serving in their communities are adequately protected.
“Corps members are our children, our sisters and brothers and they must be protected by all Nigerians,” the statement read.
