The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Brigadier General Shuiabu Ibrahim, has appealed to corps members deployed to Anambra state to be good ambassadors to themselves, their parents and the service scheme for positive change.
The DG gave the appeal during the official inauguration and handing over of the newly constructed permanent orientation camp to NYSC / swearing-in ceremony for the 2020 Batch A stream 1 corps members orientation course at Umuawulu/Mbaukwu in Awka South Local Government Area of the state, on Thursday.
The Director-General who was at the camp to inspect the facilities built by the Anambra state government was received by guards mounted by the corps members, other groups and management team.
While commending the Anambra government for the support given to the scheme, urged corps members to shun vices and take advantage of the Skills Acquisition Entrepreneur Development (SAED) when sent to their primary assignments.
He also told the corp members to consider themselves very privileged to serve their country adding that the essence of the service was for national unity and integration.
The DG urged them to be patriotic and dedicate themselves to the service in order to achieve the aims and objectives of the scheme.
Maj Gen Kazaure maintained that the corps members could achieve much of the scheme because the orientation programme was designed to prepare them ahead of the challenges they would face in future.

He insisted that the corps members must pay due attention and take advantage of SAED as white-collar jobs are no longer there for them.
He also warned them to avoid lone movements and unnecessary trips but walk in twos or threes and respect the host community where they are posted to for their assignment.
The DG further warned females corps against free gift free ride, from unknown persons to avoid being kidnapped for rituals purpose.
Fielding questions from journalists on the safety of corps members across the country, he assured that no corps members would be posted to places where there was insecurity adding that the NYSC was working in collaboration with security agencies to ensure the safety of corps members.
On coronavirus, he assured that all the preventing equipment needed to monitor the virus are in place across the country to keep the serving members safe.
The State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Kehinde Aremu, who expressed appreciation for the visit of the DG, said 1,926 corps members were deployed to served in the state.
He called on the DG and his management team to help tackle some of the challenges facing them in the camp
In his official address, the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano, said he will continue to reciprocate the numerous gestures by deploying the energies and intellect of the corp members to the areas of critical manpower deficit in Anambra state, particularly in science education, primary Healthcare, and job opportunities.
