Members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Aguata branch, Anambra State, have extolled the remarkable achievements of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, particularly in road infrastructure.
They made this commendation during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the society and the induction of eight new members held in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area, over the weekend.
The members highlighted that Governor Soludo’s interventions in key sectors such as education, agriculture, and human capital development, among others, demonstrate his preparedness to govern Anambra State.
They urged the people to continue supporting and praying for his administration.
In her remarks, the Chairman of the NSE, Aguata branch, Engineer Rita Ofojama, explained that the ceremony aimed to reawaken the intellect, creativity, and resilience of engineers, which are essential for transforming society.

She expressed gratitude to the governor for setting the pace in infrastructural development and appealed to him to donate land for the society’s permanent secretariat and provide a vehicle to facilitate the smooth running of the Society.
While declaring the event open, Governor Soludo, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Youth Development, Engineer Martin Agbili, urged the Society’s members to apply their knowledge and skills to the sustainable development of Anambra State and the advancement of engineering in the country.
Soludo, through Agbili, emphasized the importance of engineers leading the charge in solving societal problems and called on them to partner with his administration to drive the state’s sustainable development.
In her address, the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Margaret Oguntala, whose speech was read by Engineer Agbili, focused on the ceremony’s theme, “Routes to Successful Engineering Practice: Awakening the Sleeping Giant in the Nigerian Engineer.”
She encouraged engineers to embrace innovation, ethical practices, relentless pursuit of excellence, collaboration, and leadership in all their endeavors to succeed in the profession.
She reminded them that the success of the engineering profession depends on their ability to adapt to global trends while remaining deeply rooted in the unique challenges and opportunities presented by Nigeria.
Engineer Oguntala also advised the newly inducted members to uphold the highest standards of the engineering profession and play a vital role in shaping the future of the country.
The keynote speaker at the event, Engr. Professor Johnpaul Iloh, lamented that many certified engineers lack creativity, which hinders their ability to solve societal problems.
He urged them to reactivate their capacity to work for the benefit of society.
In her remarks, the immediate past Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Engineer Francisca Nwafulugo, described the ceremony as a positive development and encouraged members of the society to consistently apply scientific principles to solve societal problems.
At the event, the state Commissioner for Works, Engineer Ifeanyi Okoma, the Transition Committee Chairman of Aguata Local Government Area, Dr. Chibueze Oforbuike, Prof. Akaolisa Ezeagu of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, and the former Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne, among others, were honored with meritorious awards by the society.
