Corps Public Relations Officer, Mr Emmanuel Okeh, in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja said since the assumption of office by the CG in July 2015 till date, the budgetary allocation released to the Corps has never been up to N7 billion.
He was reacting to some online media reports on Tuesday, how an anti-graft agency uncovered the said sum in the CG’s account.
“Since assumption of office in July 2015 till date, the budgetary allocation released to the Corps has never been up to N7 billion but rumour mongers are concocting stories that N6billion was found in his account which is fallacious and highly unimaginable,” Gana said in the statement.
He added, “The mischief makers posited that the alleged money was meant for staff that were promoted two years ago. This is not possible because Government in this era cannot allow such huge amount of money to be paid into a private account when it is meant for an agency.”
Gana, according to the statement “admonished personnel to prevent any crack on the wall for lizards to penetrate.
He said on the issue of promotion carried out two years ago before his appointment, “it should be pointed out that the funds released by government was insufficient to cater for the upgrade. However, adequate provisions have been made to take care of such challenge in the 2017 budget.”
