The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), on Wednesday, stated that none of the corps members admitted across its 37 orientation camps across the country tested positive to COVID-19.
This was even as it stressed the difference between a corps member and a prospective corps member.
The NYSC made the clarifications on the heels of reports stating that over 100 members had contracted the disease.
In a statement issued by its Spokesperson, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, the NYSC stated that before any Prospective corps member is admitted into its camps, they must first undergo the COVID-19 test.
It stressed that only those that test negative are admitted while those that test positive are handed over to the NCDC for treatment and management.
“The same rule applies to camp officials. Management hereby restates that there is no COVID-19 positive corps member in any of the 37 NYSC Orientation Camps nationwide.
“It is pertinent to state that there is a gulf of difference between a corps member and a prospective corps member.
“One becomes a corps member after admittance to the camp, registers and administered the Oath of National Allegiance.
“Anyone mobilised for service, but has not gone through the aforesaid process is not a corps member,” the statement read.
To this end, it said there is no red alert in its orientation camps, as all corps members, as well as camp officials admitted in the camps, are COVID-19 negative.

The Dangers In Mixing Toilet Cleaner With Bleach
Few weeks ago, Eniola Oyemolade, a journalist, decided to get creative while cleaning, by mixing a toilet cleaner and a bleach together. She did this with the thought that if one product works, mixing it with another would make it even better.
Unknowing to her, Mixing bleach with toilet cleaner creates a poisonous gas that can cause adverse health reactions, including death.
“After the mixture, I started feeling a burning sensation in my throat and I had to leave the room because the odour was really bad too,” she said.
