NITDA, foundation transform educational landscape, donate digital centre in Edo

In a monumental stride towards bolstering educational technology, the Richard George Foundation (RGF), in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has unveiled a 30 million naira state-of-the-art digital economy centre at the Sancta Maria Catholic College of Nursing Sciences, Uzairue, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

The initiative, which was lauded by stakeholders as a game-changer in educational infrastructure, received accolades from dignitaries including the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, represented by Sir Lawrence Dirisu, the agency’s Deputy Director of Research and Development.

In his remarks, Inuwa highlighted the strategic significance of leveraging technology to drive educational transformation, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to fostering partnerships that advance innovation and progress.

Mr. Richard George, founder of the Richard George Foundation, expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to educational advancement.

He underscored the foundation’s vision to nurture young African change-makers and its dedication to leveraging technology for social impact.

According to him, the donation was a testament to the foundation’s commitment to uplifting communities and fostering technological innovation.

In a resounding affirmation of the collaboration’s impact, Ogbeide Ifaluyi-Isibor, Edo Commissioner for Digital Economy, Science, and Technology, commended the initiative, emphasizing the pivotal role of digital technology in problem-solving.

Most Rev. Dr. Gabriel Dunia, proprietor of the college, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the centre’s potential to equip students with essential skills for the digital age.

Other dignitaries present at the event were Mrs. Isimeme Whyte, Chief Innovation Officer at Genius Hub Global; Terseer Nyulaku Ph.D, the Executive Secretary of the Edo State Board For Technical and Vocational Education and Training; Dr. Lois Otse Adams, the Founder Udukotse Foundation and Co-founder Authors in School Creative Club and Engr. Dr. S.K Ilugbekhai of SKI international.

As the digital economy centre stands poised to revolutionize education, stakeholders expressed optimism for its transformative impact, affirming a shared commitment to nurturing innovation and technology-driven progress.

With this landmark initiative, the Richard George Foundation and NITDA have embarked on a journey to empower the next generation of leaders and pave the way for a brighter future.
