Nigeria’s situation needs strategic planning, quality leadership — Gov Bala

Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed, has stated that the key to resolving the numerous challenges in Nigeria is quality leadership.

He also stressed that management of the current security situation required a strategic plan and innovation from the leaders in different capacities.

The Governor made the submission in a paper he presented on Strategic Leadership and Political Experience for participants of Course 32 of National Defense College (NDC), Abuja.

Mohammed said that through selflessness, inclusiveness and community engagement in leadership, the country would overcome the determinating situation.

He however charged the participants to respect the country’s diversity and constructional sanctity in bringing the required change to restore the hope of Nigerians.

Responding to questions on the Security of Bauchi State, being bordered by chaotic states, Bala Mohammed called for the constitution of a Security and peace council which will canvas retired Military and Police officers and saddle them the responsibility of advising the Government on the security architecture of the Nation.

He also explained that his administration has created a Ministry for Internal Security which is working in synergy with all the National and Local security outfits to safeguard the state, affirming that the initiative is yielding a fabulous outcome.

While answering questions on Agricultural opportunities in the state, the Governor stated that Bauchi State is among the major producers of Sesame seeds which has a major demand in Middle east countries but poor approach has hindered the state’s potential.

He added that his administration is trying very hard to rejuvenate the agricultural export sector using the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport and certification have been secured for that regard.

The Governor further said that the State is ready for the commencement of crude oil drilling and regeneration at the already confirmed Kolmani integrated site in Alkaleri LGA.

In a remark, the Commandant, National Defense College Abuja, Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Morakinyo Olotu, on behalf of the College and the participants of Course 32 extended appreciation to the Governor for honouring the invitation to be the Guest Speaker at the College.

He described the Governor’s suggestions as apt and called on the participants to use the knowledge acquired in a manner that would add value to their pursuit of knowledge.
