As more Nigerians have continued to attempt new records in different fields of endeavour in the World Guinness book of records, a graduate of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike (AE-FUNAI), Chika Godwin, is set to break Guinness World Record for longest painting marathon.
The 27-year-old Fine and Applied Arts graduate in an exclusive interview with TRIBUNE ONLINE, said his motivational thrive “is to tell different stories through art works and to also put Africa on the world map”.
Godwin, an Anambra-born artist started the 192-hour-paint-a-thon on the 27th of March, 2024, and is expected to complete the task on April 3.
A copy of the approval letter with reference number: 24010409 sighted by our reporter, read in part: “We are pleased to inform you that your application has been accepted under the following title: Longest Painting Marathon”.
Godwin who graduated in 2019, believes telling stories through art is a profound and captivating way to express himself.
The location of the competition is at Ocean 21 Lounge, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Recall Chancellor Ahaghotu, a sophomore at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, shattered a decade-old record for the longest painting session in January, far exceeded the previous 60-hour record, established by Roland Palmaerts (Belgium/Canada) in 2013.
