FOLLOWING the erroneous belief of many Nigerians that laws are made to be broken with impunity, the Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, in one of his satiric works, refers to Nigeria as a land of law and disorder.

Truly, it is sad and pathetic that the custodians of the law are themselves the breakers of the law in Nigeria.

However, with the Muhammadu Buhari government’s zero tolerance for corruption and with strict adherence to the rule of law, it is hoped that Nigeria will assume the new name of “land of law and order” where nobody will be above the law.
