The Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide (Ayo Ni O) has called for an immediate ceasefire in the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, emphasising the importance of global peace.

In a statement released ahead of its 57th Annual Mount Horeb Ascension on May 3 with the theme, “Covenant of Mercy”, the church’s chairman and spiritual father, Prophet Dr. Emmanuel Adewale Abiodun Alogbo, urged world leaders to take practical actions for national renewal and global peace.

The cleric also appealed to world leaders to protect civilian populations, ensure unimpeded humanitarian access, and pursue just and lasting peace through dialogue and diplomacy.

The church expressed deep concern regarding renewed nuclear tensions and urged global leaders to focus on de-escalation and meaningful disarmament.

In a reflection on Nigeria’s current situation, the church reiterated the need for practical actions and prayers for protection, healing, and the restoration of the nation. It stated, “Our country is facing deepening economic hardship, persistent inflation, and widespread food insecurity.”

These material struggles are compounded by a deteriorating security environment, characterized by kidnapping for ransom, banditry, insurgency, and recurring farmer-herder conflicts that continue to claim lives and displace communities. There are also reports of churches being attacked and Christians facing persecution and violence.

Prophet Alogbo, who is also the Supreme Head of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, commended the macroeconomic progress the current administration under President Bola Tinubu has made. However, he emphasized that these achievements must translate into benefits that the average citizen can recognize at the microeconomic level.

He called for “closer monitoring of the various initiatives introduced to alleviate the effects of the government’s economic policies, ensuring that intended microeconomic gains reach the vast majority of citizens.”

The Spiritual Father further stated, “As the country approaches another electoral cycle, we call on political actors, electoral institutions, and citizens to uphold the integrity of democratic processes and to govern with the accountability that the nation demands.”
