The Niger State Government has promised to prioritise youth empowerment and social security.
Alhaji Ahmed Matane, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), made the promise in a statement made available by the Information Officer to the SSG, Mr Tanko Lawal in Minna on Thursday.
Matane received members of the Niger Chapter of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).

Matane described youths as a formidable force that should not be ignored.
He restated the government’s commitment toward protecting the rights of youths and urged the youth to shun all forms of social vices.
Matane expressed government readiness to collaborate with women and youths’ empowerment organisations to achieve its restoration agenda.
Earlier, the leader of the state chapter of NYCN, Malam Bello Shariff, described youths as a formidable force that constituted more than half of the population of the state.
He, however, lamented that many youths were unemployed.
