The Commissioner of Police for the Niger State Command, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Dan-Mamman, paid a courtesy visit to Brig. Gen. H. Bobbo, the Brigade Commander of the 31 Artillery Brigade, Nigerian Army.
The meeting took place in Brig. Gen. Bobbo’s office at Headquarters, 31 Artillery Brigade Minna, on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
During the visit, CP Dan-Mamman said that having assumed his duty, he must make a courtesy call to familiarize himself with the formation. He also aimed to solicit heightened understanding and cooperation between the Nigerian Army and the Police in the State.
He emphasised that the current situation in Niger State and its neighbouring states necessitated the collaboration of both agencies to address the challenges effectively. Despite tactical deployments across the state, he stressed the importance of joint efforts between the two agencies.
CP Dan-Mamman highlighted the enormity of the state and emphasized that no single agency could handle the security situation alone. Therefore, he visited to establish a partnership, foster cooperation, and create synergy for the overall security and peace of the state.
The Police Commissioner expressed gratitude to Brig. Gen. H. Bobbo thanked the formation’s strategic officers for the warm reception.
In response, Brig. Gen. H. Bobbo assured CP Dan-Mamman of 100 percent support, collaboration, and cooperation. He emphasized the need to change the narrative and mentioned a positive relationship with the former Commissioner of Police. The Brigade Commander outlined the robust relationship that exists between the Army and the Police in the state, encompassing both official and personal engagements.
Brig. Gen. Bobbo informed CP Dan-Mamman about the recent establishment of the 18th Brigade in Teginaa, Raffi Local Government Area, to enhance coverage and operational efficiency due to the state’s large size.
Emphasizing the existing synergy and cooperation, Brig. Gen. Bobbo assured CP Dan-Mamman that intelligence sharing has been effective. He reiterated the Army’s commitment to supporting the Police as the lead agency in internal security. The primary goal is to engage and create a more secure environment for economic growth and development in the state.
