New Kano CP tasks Police officers to uphold integrity, professionalism

The newly appointed Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has called on officers within the command to remain committed to shared values such as professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights.

He also pledged to uphold professionalism, integrity, and accountability.

Bakori, who made this known on Wednesday during his maiden press briefing, emphasized the importance of these values in ensuring peace and stability in the state.

He also solicited collaboration with local communities, sister security agencies, and stakeholders to address emerging security challenges.

According to him, “Having obtained briefs from my predecessor, AIG Salman Dogo Garba, and the Command’s Management Team, the crime pattern in the state has been carefully studied and analyzed.”

He disclosed that a comprehensive action plan had been developed to address emerging issues that threaten the collective peace and security of Kano State.

Based on assessment conducted, these issues include: Thuggery (Fadan Daba): We will deploy proactive strategies to prevent and respond to thuggery-related incidents including mobile phone armed robbery, ensuring the protection of lives and properties. – Drug Abuse (Kwaya):

We will collaborate with relevant stakeholders to combat the scourge of drug abuse, providing support for rehabilitation and reintegration programs. – Domestic Violence: We will strengthen our response mechanisms to address domestic violence, ensuring that victims receive timely and effective support. –

Kidnapping along border LGAs: We will enhance our intelligence gathering capabilities and collaborate with local communities and neighboring states to prevent and respond to kidnapping incidents along our borders. –

Cyber Crimes: We will diligently work with our specialized units to tackle Cyber-related crimes, fraud and other financial crimes, leveraging technology and expertise to arrest and prosecute perpetrators.

“To achieve these objectives, the Command outlined the following strategic priorities: Community Policing: We will foster strong partnerships with local communities, building trust and collaboration to prevent and resolve conflicts.

Intelligence-Led Policing: We will leverage advanced technology and human intelligence to anticipate and respond to emerging threats.

Synergy with sister security agencies: Enhance synergy with sister security agencies and community Stakeholders. Capacity Building: We will prioritize training and development programs for our personnel, enhancing their skills and competencies to tackle complex security challenges.

Border Patrols: We will increase patrols along our borders to prevent and respond to kidnapping incidents and other cross-border crimes.

Cybercrime Unit: We will expand our cybercrime units to tackle online fraud and other technology-enabled crimes. Public Relations: The Command will continue to conduct massive public enlightenment and sensitization programs on issues of security and safety.

“On this note, I urge all members of the Kano State Police Command to remain committed to our shared values of professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights. Together, we can build a safer, more secure, and prosperous Kano State.

“We have to acknowledge the fact that, the issue of security is a collective responsibility that require a holistic approach and active involvement of everyone. Therefore, all hands need to be on deck in ensuring peace and stability prevails in the State,” CP Bakori however stated.
