Nasarawa: NSUBEB commence bidding for N8.6bn contract

THE Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB) has commenced bidding for the award of N8.6 biilion contracts to contractors for the construction of new school structures in the state.

The Chairman of NSUBEB Mohammed Danazumi while speaking during the opening ceremony of the bidding process in Lafia on Tuesday, said the process was in accordance with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to ensure due process in the award of contracts.

The Chairman who was represented by a Permanent member of the board, Freeman Kasa, Permanent Member explained that even though this is his first interface with contractors since he assumed office, he would ensure due process is strictly adhered to.

He added that the state government, through the board has paid their counterpart funds of N4.3 billion for the period of four years from 2012 to 2016 to the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).

Dan-Azumi noted that it is no longer going to be business as usual for contractors in the habit of collecting money and not doing the job, saying, the board would deal with anyone found culpable.
